ATTENTION: Ubergeek commentary follows, much of which only AHers and/or fellow geeks will be able to understand. ----- You know what a satisfying feeling is? Mostly understanding the ColdFusion my dad is teaching me. Really, it's quite satisfying, or maybe I'm just a geek. I've been working on AHR [Adrienne's Hogwarts Revived] these past few days. Really working on it, not just saying "oh, I'll do this" and doing a lot of nothing. We spent twoish hours three days ago discussing what all I wanted to do (really, it took forever, you don't realize how damn complex AH was until you try to explain it to someone who wasn't there). Then he told me some stuff to do: mainly, create the database, start filling the pieces (except for the members) in, create the join form. I did all that (as well as started making images... I've got everyday robes for each house and just run of the mill black ones, about ten colors of ink, four quills, parchment, and eight choices of wands) and we went over what I did today and he gave me more to do, which I've just finished: fix some things on the join form, and make pages for choosing your housed. The system is already changing a bit (or a lot, depends on how open to change you are). When you sign up, you don't pick a house, all you fill in is a username, password, e-mail, gender, and whether you'll follow the rules. Note, no house. Then an e-mail gets sent to the address you provided, with your student ID number and an activation link. This is to weed out bad e-mails from people just joining to be losers. (I got a *lot* of this at the original AH.) Then, *if* they get the e-mail, they click it and log in. (See, you don't log in with your screen name, you log in with your student ID. THAT way, it's only a 1-5 digit number (but it won't be five digits unless I get 10,000 members... plan on 1-3 digits) you log in with, instead of your up-to-25-characters screen name. Smart, right? I think so too. ^_~ After logging in, you pick your house, la dee da, and make your wand right there, because you can't do anything without a wand. The wand images are really cool if I say so myself. ;) We haven't gotten any further than that, but it's already kinda different, see? It'll be awesome when it launches, man. Hopefully before the release of the fourth movie. (I'm kinda hoping even for before the end of summer... I originally wanted to release it at the same time as book six, but that isn't gonna happen... that's okay.) That'll be sweet. ^^ -Adrienne
