This year's entries to Scholastic
December 06, 2005 @ 8:44 p.m.

I've submitted seven things to Scholastic. I honestly don't have many high hopes - I'm up against the rest of the senior division, after all - but I do think that Tumbling After, if anything, will win *something* in regionals. Yes, it's morbid. But I've poured so much into that story, and rewritten it by Mr. Fahnestock's suggestions so many times that I've grown quite fond of it. (Hopefully now the judges won't just throw it aside since it's about a guy who's gonna blow himself and his fiance up....)

I don't think my poetry entry is that shabby either, but going for the poetry in the senior division... haha, good luck to meee... I won't get anything for it. But I had revised versions of Fortunes, Waterfall, Mystery, and Of Moths and Butterflies in there. Woootness.

(Yeah, I'm definitely learning the meaning of REVISION.)

I'm going to apply to Governor's School of the Arts. It's the hardest of the Governor's Schools to get into, but who knows, maybe I can make the cut. But it's a free, five-week program during the summer (where you are basically a college student for those five weeks), and I'll be applying for creative writing... WHEEE. That means it'd be like hardcore Susquehanna, only five times as long. Sweeeeet. Maybe I'll be one of the "up to eight" selected as representatives of creative writing for the district that will reach semifinalist level... hahaha. Complicated, yes. We shall see how I do.

Today was Tuesday... and it was a great day. *Wide grin*

Everything's happening Friday, though... which means major stress Thursday, haha. Y'see, not only is the 9th Chris' seventeenth birthday (YAAAY!), but it's also karate testing (I'm testing for red belt - six levels below black belt!! - whoo hoo!), a math test, a history test, and a Spanish quiz. And a possible science quiz. Gaaaah. I think by the end of karate testing I'll probably keel over from the stress of it all. But you know... I can allot my study time... twenty minutes here, an hour here, a study hall here....

(...Yeah, right.)

And now I'm going to go write. I know it's too late to actually make the Scholastic cut - I know better than to turn in a one-night rough draft for Scholastic, those poor readers already have seven things of mine to work through - and that's actually a little stress-relieving, honestly. Although I need to finish my Gov School application.... >_<

(Work work workity procrast--workity work work....)
