Of Kenyon, raises, and cookie dough
October 11, 2006 @ 4:05 p.m.

It's been a while. I loved Kenyon. It's my school. I AM going there in two years, even though the tuition is $3000 more a year than Princeton. I AM going there. Because I loved it. It was so unique, so offbeat, so writerly. It was nothing short of magical. This school year's gone well. I dropped AP Euro so I could get orchestra, but the only reason I'm in orchestra this year (I won't be next year, most likely) is because there's a trip in April. Another cruise. To Mexico. I have an insane love of going on trips, even if it means eight hour car rides (what it was to Kenyon - mum and I talked the WHOLE time. We didn't need music or the radio or anything at all. It was pretty much 16 hours round trip talking. And we talked the whole college visit too. I was so hyper, more hyper than is imaginable. It was like me on four caffeine pills. Scary, huh?) and waiting months for the trip and working to earn enough money to go. I love going places, exploring, seeing different ways of life in action. So... I'm very much insanely into the fundraisers. We have our first fundraiser going on now, and my goal is to sell 25 buckets of cookie dough. (They're 3-pound buckets, so for a while I'll be lugging around 75 pounds of cookies. That kind of scares me.) I've sold 15, so I just need ten more. By selling 25 of them, though, I'd get more than $100 towards my orchestra trip. Which is very, very good. I got my raise for my job (at Kmart! YES! xD) so now I'm at $6.75 an hour. I'm going to work, like, all of my Thanksgiving break, so if I figure it out right I'll get almost $200 after tax, because two of those days should be time and a half: Thanksgiving and Black Friday. ^___^ Sweeet, yo. That'll... probably be the rest of the first payment on the trip. Heh. That'll go fast. But that's alright... I'm gonna love the cruise. and I'm pretty sure there are at least two more fundraisers to throw myself into... who knows if they'll be ones as easy to sell as cookie dough, though. Tomorrow I'm catching all my 9th and 10th grade teachers and trying to sell to them, but other orch dorks have probably already gotten to them. Homework time. -Adrienne
