Busy busy busy

Dad just told his dad two days ago that they're getting divorced. That kind of amazes me. It's been in the process for months. It's been impending for years. He's moving out next week.

Why are math and science my best subjects, when English is really the only one I care about?

I wore orange to work on Friday, because it was orange day. I must've also been the first Kmart associate in the history of Kmart to wear a skirt (they're so much more comfortable than dress pants!): I wore my orange shirt, black tiered knee-length skirt, and red/black striped socks. Turns out, it wasn't orange day. Kind of embarrassing. But Terri and Mark (my bosses) said it was okay and rather festive. Skirts sure are comfortable, but the stares and winks of old men are not. I think I'll stick to dress pants from now on.

I don't think my car was a bad decision. Mum's remortgaging a little more of the house than she was planning to, so that should cover about half of it. I'll work my ass off for the other half, and fundraise for the orchestra thing like mad in order to pay as little of that as possible out of my pocket. I'll use the free tub of cookie dough I get to make cookies to sell for the Increase the Peace fundraiser. I think I could probably individually fundraise for my writing camp in the last month of school once I hear if I'm accepted or not. Mr Fahn even said last year he'd donate to me. Aww, I heart Mr Fahn. (If I'm not accepted, I'll be doing Gettysburg's writing camp, most likely. Or I'll go back to SU for poetry. They're going to be so sure I'm going to college there, man....) Dad apparently keeps saying, "well, with my half of the mortgage, I was going to buy Adrienne a car." Or "well, I thought you wanted me to pick her up. Why's she need a car?"

That'd be because I have Pandora's Box, Writers' Workshops, writing meetings with Rhoads, a job, NHS, SHS, and also musical coming up, Dad. Sorry, but I just don't think you want to make that hour-long round-trip six to seven days a week, possibly twice a day. As for the buying me a car thing... hahahaha.

And I love that car, man. I'm trying to think of a name for it. I drove it home from CVM last night in the dark and the rain and ohhh it was amazing. It's parked in the cubby hole in our driveway. They had it all nice and waxed for me and stuff, too bad it started raining. O_O;;

I just got a huge pamphlet from Kenyon about financial aid. They meet 100% of demonstrated financial aid. (YES! *hand pump*) The average financial aid package for a family with under $20,000/yr income is almost $30,000, and the 20k-40k is almost as much. I'll only end up paying $15,000 a year, most likely, and I'm going to apply for every scholarship I can. And, after all, they did write to Rhoads saying "we have money, send us writers"....

Mum's meeting for Easter Seals yesterday went well. And apparently, they've got openings for people for full time jobs! She'd be perfect for them, I mean, they've kept her as a board chair for three years and counting, even though board positions aren't supposed to be permanent... she's just that good. She's also applying for a position as a web marketer. That's pretty sweet, she's been doing that for CyberNiche since the beginning of the internet. (Well, at least, since 1996.)

I need to get in touch with Easter Seals and ask them when I can do six hours of community service for them. I should also find out how I can get my Spanish community service in. Huh.

I'm going to the Halloween dance tonight, I think, but I don't know of anyone else who's going. My costume's entirely picked from my closet: runaway jailbird in disguise. *Grins* Obleski brought up a valid point when she pointed out that since the dance is sponsored by the student council, and Andre is in the aforementioned student council, he'd probably be there....

I'm gonna write some before I start my English essays.
