Bookkeeping

Heh, my images don't work anymore. Oh well....

Feel free to ignore this entry, I'm bookkeeping.

I got two gold keys (poetry and my personal essay Precious) and one silver (my short short story Blurred Edges... I really think that Nine Minutes at the Station should have gotten some kind of award, but whatever) in regional Scholastic Writing, and a gold in Art for graphic design (my CD cover La Vida Poetica).

A reporter named Clippinger wanted to interview me for the Patriot News because I got gold keys in both writing and art (she said three people total were being interviewed... I would have thought more people would have won awards in both. Huh), but my car spun out while I was trying to get in my driveway, so I decided that facing all this snow, going wouldn't be the best idea. Of course, thirty minutes before the interview (which was to be held an hour away), the sun came out again and it stopped snowing. Meh.

SAT scores were critical reading 650, 89%; writing 670, 93%; and math 720, 96%. My math score is 20 points beyond the middle 50% for Kenyon, which rocks socks. Need to get my critical reading up though. A LOT. Like, at least 80 points....

I was selected as a semifinalist for the PA Governor's School of the Arts. The program I'm applying for is a monthlong writing camp in July funded entirely by the state, and I think ten writers get in tops. I'm hoping to be one of those ten. If I am not (knock on wood), I hope to be accepted to Kenyon's summer workshop, which is more than $2000. (Needless to say, I'm applying with a request for financial aid as well.)

That is all.
